Buying an electric vehicle? Here's what you need to know about the install.

With the U.S Department of Transportation laying out plans to add 75,000 miles of highway EV charging stations across every state over the next 5 years, charging will get easier. Until the construction is completed you will still need to do the majority of your charging at home.

Range anxiety comes into play regardless of the size of your car battery system. If you are driving a Tesla with a larger battery or Nissan Leaf with a smaller one most charging stations currently only have level 2 charging which still requires 6-12 hours to fully charge your vehicle. For most people this is not feasible to do anywhere outside of their property.

When choosing to install a charger at home you need to consider the charger itself, which electrical contractor to work with and how much it will cost you to get it installed and up and running.
